Voting -- the right to do it, easy access to the polls -- seems like a no-brainer to us. We don't get people who don't vote. And we don't get why it's made difficult for many people who do want to vote. These seem like things people of all political persuasions can agree on. But there's a lot of work to be done to ensure voters rights. |
We're doing a special show at Lagunitas, in Chicago, to raise some money and awareness about the Voting Rights Project. www.votingrightsillinois.org
This is the nonpartisan Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law's work to eliminate barries to voting and improve civic participation, especially in communities of color and low-income communities to ensure that each eligible citizen is able to cast a ballot and make her voice heard.
The actual show will be 7 to 8, with time around it to hang out and drink and eat some of the great food from Pizano's Pizza & Pasta.
We hope you can make it!
